Responsibilities:

The County Clerk is a constitutional officer in Arkansas responsible for maintaining official county records and administering a range of vital services that support both the county government and judicial system. In Lawrence County, the Clerk performs functions that span across elections, courts, finance, and public records.

The County Clerk serves as the official voter registrar, maintaining the voter registration list and working closely with the County Election Commission to administer local, state, and federal elections. The office is also responsible for issuing marriage licenses, recording minister credentials, and handling related public filings.

As the Clerk of the County and Probate Courts, the office files and preserves documents related to probate, guardianship, estate administration, and other court matters. The Clerk also maintains records of county court proceedings, including contracts, ordinances, and resolutions.

In addition to judicial and recording duties, the County Clerk supports county operations by managing accounts payable, employee payroll, and serving as the secretary to the Quorum Court and the Equalization Board. The Clerk also processes Doing Business As (DBA) certificates and stores wills filed for safekeeping prior to probate.

These functions are essential to the transparency, accountability, and continuity of county government, and are carried out in accordance with Arkansas law.
