The County Judge of Lawrence County serves as the chief executive officer of the county government. As established by the Arkansas Constitution and state law, the County Judge is responsible for the day-to-day administration of county affairs, including supervising non-elected department heads, managing county-owned property, and overseeing the construction and maintenance of county roads and bridges. The Judge prepares and administers the county’s annual operating budget, approves expenditures, and executes contracts on behalf of the county. In legislative matters, the County Judge presides over meetings of the Quorum Court—the county’s legislative body—without a vote, but retains the power to veto its ordinances, subject to override.

The Judge also coordinates the county’s emergency management operations during times of disaster and is authorized to apply for and administer state and federal grants. In all duties, the County Judge works to ensure the efficient, transparent, and effective operation of county government for the benefit of Lawrence County residents.
