Responsibilities

The Sheriff of Lawrence County serves as the county’s chief law enforcement officer and is responsible for maintaining public safety and enforcing the laws of the State of Arkansas. As an elected constitutional officer, the Sheriff operates the county’s law enforcement division, oversees the detention center, and provides security for the courts and judicial system.

Key responsibilities of the Sheriff’s Office include:

• Patrolling unincorporated areas of the county and responding to emergency and non-emergency calls for service
• Investigating criminal activity, serving arrest warrants, and conducting drug and property crime investigations
• Operating and maintaining the Lawrence County Detention Center, including the housing and care of inmates
• Providing courtroom security and transporting inmates to and from court and correctional facilities
• Serving civil and criminal process documents, including subpoenas, summonses, and eviction notices
• Cooperating with municipal police departments, state law enforcement agencies, and federal authorities in joint investigations and operations
• Engaging in community outreach and crime prevention initiatives
